internship reflection # 13 May 13, 2009

Today when I got to the police Department, I went to records. I had to answer the phones to tell people if their reports were ready to be picked up what time they could come and get it. i had to makes faxes to insurance cvompanies that sent us requests. then i had to search for reports because we got requests by mail. the clerk sent me on a few errands around the police department delivering some papers to people. I had another intern at my department today so i taughther how to serach for reports and how to work the front window, and how to send faxes. later on i had worked at the front desk helping the customers. iasked them if was and accident or incident and what the report number was. i then searched for it and printed it out to give them. they paid for it and i gave them their change back.we got a customer today who wanted all the reports for her address, but there were so many that there was a research fee of fifteen dollars so she started a big argument. i had to get the sergeant to settle this problem. today was the last day of internship for me. it was a great learning experience and i really enjoyed it.

Internship Reflection # 12 May 6, 2009

This week I had to run a couple errands for the clerk in records. first I went to municiple court to bring them the mail to be picked up. then I went over to the traffic department to give the woman a paper. then i started to browse the computer looking at peoples criminal records and different kinds of searches in the computer. after that I started to answer phones and tell people if there reports were ready or not. then i had to maxes a few faxes to several places. while doing all this i had to work at the front window with the customers. working in the records department is getting really boring.
